Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant support from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
