From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
