A high-ranking Russian military figure has been declared dead following an blast in Moscow, according to reports from authorities.

The event happened on Monday morning when an explosive device placed beneath a vehicle detonated, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' department for training operations.

Authorities indicated that one line of inquiry points to the potential involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. At this time, Ukraine has not issued a comment.
