Approximately 55,000 families have reportedly been affected by the rains, with their belongings and shelters damaged.

Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult situation of the many hundreds of thousands of uprooted civilians in the region, as reported by humanitarian groups.

"Awful" Night Brings Grave Risks

A spokesman described the previous night's conditions as "awful", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the terrain.

"The recent weather was really horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so strong... And the winds were so forceful," said the spokesperson.

Authorities voice significant concern that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in wet garments will succumb to hypothermia and additional illnesses.

Casualties and Extensive Loss

The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in roof cave-ins triggered by the severe weather.

Additional accounts indicate a greater death toll. Officials reported that multiple residential buildings had totally fallen and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 emergency shelters submerged.
  • Many people forced to find new shelter.

Relief Distribution Seen as Insufficient

Groups have increased distribution of shelter, bedding and clothes after the halt in hostilities began, but they stress there is remains not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to distribute it, but the scale of the necessities is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of families and minors who are genuinely struggling nightly," cautioned one representative.

Future Challenges and Agreement Terms

The subsequent part of the agreement includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other conditions.

Humanitarian groups have highlighted the necessity for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to meet pressing and ongoing requirements."

The conflict was triggered by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent campaigns have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the area, according to medical data.
