The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in action and madness with equal glee, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose work have embodied all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a new setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from year to year, while always examining the nature of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, ambitious style to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
